FUR-ever Home Friday: KITTENS!

The star (or stars rather) of this week’s FUR-ever Home Friday video, you ask?  KITTENS!

Right now, CBHS has many cute, fluffy, playful kittens who want nothing more than to come home with YOU!  Come meet them today!

Our Adoption Center is open every day (except for Monday) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pick of the Litter: Kona

Each month we’ll feature a different adoptable pet, chosen as a favorite by a CBHS staff member or volunteer.

This month’s “Pick of the Litter” has been chosen by CBHS Adoption Counselor, Abby Shannon.  Abby chose Kona, a 6-year-old pit bull.

“Why do I love Kona? Well, she is absolutely amazing with any human being, especially kids (her maternal instinct is beautiful). She wants to be by your side and give you kisses every chance she can. She is a great walking buddy, and is extremely smart! Kona would make a great snuggle bug for anyone, especially a family with children. She has been at the shelter for way too long. An amazing dog like her deserves a second, loving chance at life with a deserving family!”

Kona’s adoption profile can be viewed on our website here, or better yet, stop in to our Adoption Center and meet Kona for yourself today!  We’re open every day except for Monday. To fill out an adoption application, click here.

Where’s the food?

CBHS is currently in dire need of wet cat food donations.  We use cat food to feed tiny kittens who can’t yet chew and swallow dry food, for senor cats who are missing teeth, as well as for administering medications.  Please, if you are able, make a donation today.  All donations are welcomed and appreciated.  Thank you for the continued support.

CBHS Rolls Out Online “Lost & Found” Bulletin Board

As a way to more efficiently handle lost and found pet reports, The Cedar Bend Humane Society has recently rolled out a new system for reporting, sharing, and viewing lost and found pets.

The Lost & Found page, which functions primarily as an online “bulletin board” can be found on our website, here, and includes two separate pages for pets reported lost by their owner, or found by someone in the community.

If you have lost your pet, the first step is to call the animal control agency for your city or county.  The Cedar Bend Humane Society includes the offices of the Black Hawk Animal Control, which responds to calls and aids in rescuing abandoned, sick or injured and stray animals from rural Black Hawk County. We have contracts with Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Waverly, and rural Black Hawk County for the boarding and caring of stray domestic animals including roaming cats.

If you are missing your pet, we STRONGLY ADVISE you to first call The CBHS intake office at (319) 232-6887. We also invite you to visit our intake building to view our strays yourself, and redeem your pet if it is here. Also be sure to check our website to see if your pet has been reported as found.

If your pet is NOT at CBHS, you should fill out a Lost Pet Report, which can be found here.  Simply print the form, fill it out, scan and email back to the email address provided (CBHSMedia@gmail.com) along with a photo of your pet.*

Our staff will post the report to our website, and send you a link of the post so that you can share via email, social media, or print a poster version.

If you’ve FOUND a pet that appears to be lost, a Found Pet Report, found here, may be filled out and sent to CBHS in the same manner as Lost Pet reports.

Lost and Found reports will remain on our website for 30 days, unless an extension is requested.  We ask that if the pet is returned to you, you notify is immediately so that we can remove the post from our website.

*If you do not have easy access to a computer, you may call the intake office and a staff member will fill out the form with you over the phone.  We still strongly recommend bringing in a photo of your pet to include with the report.
