YOUR vote could mean $15,000 for CBHS!

The 10th annual Make My Non-Profit Run Better contest by RK Dixon and Premier offers non-profit organizations the chance to win an office technology makeover that will help them run better.

The Cedar Bend Humane Society is in the running, and we need YOUR help to make it happen.  Voting is now open, and the first round runs until Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.  Follow these easy steps to vote for CBHS once per day, per device (that means your vote can count twice if you vote on our computer, and then again on your mobile device!).

1.) Visit http://www.mmnprb.com/search/

2.) Search for “Cedar Bend Humane Society” by area (choose Cedar Rapids, IA), by County (Black Hawk), or just by entering our name.

3.) Click “Cedar Bend Humane Society” from the list of options.

4.) Once on our profile, click the “Vote for Cedar Bend Humane Society” box in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, just above the YouTube video.

5.) That’s it!

Just a few clicks could make a world of difference to our shelter!  It could mean reducing our printing costs, carrying out mobile adoptions, and increasing our outreach and education efforts.  All of these factors add up to more available funds for animals in need.  Please vote today!

IT PAYS TO SPAY Fundraiser: Altering our community one pet at a time!

spay a stray ornaments

Help reduce pet overpopulation!

We hope you’ll participate in a new fundraiser for the Cedar Bend Humane Society’s   in-house spay and neuter program.

For a $20 donation, the Cedar Bend Humane Society will place a group of dog and cat yard ornaments in your friend’s yard. Your friend can then donate $15 to have them removed or $20 to have them moved to another friend’s yard and so it goes!

IT PAYS TO SPAY insurance is available for $25. This ensures the ornaments will NOT visit your yard!

IT PAYS TO SPAY participation is available until May 22, 2015.

100% of donations go to spay and neuter homeless pets at CBHS.

Please limit nominations to the Waterloo and Cedar Falls areas

Click below to print and mail in the nomination and insurance form, or call 319-232-6887 and we will be happy to help you with your nomination.

ResQwalk App: Walk to Help Homeless Pets

Helping homeless pets is now as easy as taking your dog on a walk. How great is that?!

CBHS is now part of ResQwalk. It’s a mobile app that enables you to raise money for homeless animals and earn prizes every time you go for a walk. (Hopefully you’re walking with a pet!)

ResQwalk launched in the summer of 2014 by Bailey Schroeder. The app was created to give people an easy way to donate to animal welfare organizations. With the popularity of fitness and walking apps, Schroeder saw an opportunity to appeal to animal lovers who might be short on time and money but still wanted to make a difference for animals.

The app tracks the distance walked. Each walker’s distance is recorded in the user profile and added to the rescue’s weekly sum. At the end of the week, donations are paid out to the rescues proportionally to the total distance walked.

At the end of every walk, the user is offered a reward that, when redeemed, helps fund future donation pools.

Here’s how it works:

1. Download the ResQwalk app onto your smartphone

2. Open the app and log in through Facebook or Twitter

ResQWalk3

3. Go to “Choose a Specific Rescue” at the bottom of the screen

ResQWalk1

4. Search for and then select Cedar Bend Humane Society

ResQWalk2

5. Make sure your GPS is on, then click on Start Walk

ResQWalk1

Your distance will be tracked and added to our total.

Thanks for taking your dog on a walk and helping homeless pets!
